Short history of Olympic and Asian Games

1- Olympic games:-  This is an international sport festival.Originally these games were held at Mount Olympus in Greece in the honor of God Zues.These continued from 776 BC till 349 AD.From 349 AD these games started degenerating and by 589 AD they altogether vanished.

Modern Olympics:-

In 1849 (after nearly 1500 years)French Nobleman Baron Pierre de Coubertin revived theses games and the modern series started from 1896 at Athens,and since then the games are held very four years.!

Olympic Motto:-

"Citius,Altius,Fortius" is the Latin Motto meaning "Swfter,Higher and stronger" composed by father Didon in 1897,and introduced as Olympic motto in 1920 for the first time.

Olympic Emblem:-

Olympic Emblem is composed of five rings of different colors representing the five continents of the world.

                                                         Green ring-Oceania

Separate winter Olympic Games began in 1924.Women have competing in the Olympics since 1912.

            Prior to the 1908 Olympics,entries at individual and club levels were also accepted by the 10C.A Calcutta based Anglo Indian Norman Pritchard participated in the Paris games in 1900 and won two silver medals in the 200 m sprint and 200 m hurdles,and thus became the first Indian to have won Olympic medals.

                                 India officially participated in the Olympics for the first rime in 1920 when four athletes and two wrestlers were sent to participate in the Sixth Olympic Games at Antwerp,Belgium.

2-Asian Games:-

                    The history of Asian Games dates back to 1947 when the Asian Relations Conference held in New Delhi decided to organize Track and Field competitions among nations of the Asian region on the lines of the Olympic games,once in four years.The first games were held in 1951 at the National Stadium,New Delhi and since then the games have been  held as follows:

Types of sports:-

Archery:

Archery is the art,or skill propelling arrows with the use of a bow.Archery has historically been used for hunting and combat;in modern times,however,its main use is that of a recreational activity.

One who practices archery is typically known as "Archer" or "Bowman",and one who is fond of or an expert at archery can be referred to as a "toxophilite".

Auto racing:-

Auto racing  (also known as auto mobile racing,motor racing or car racing) is a motor sport involing the racing of cars.It is one of the world's most watched televised sports.

History:-

Racing began soon after the construction of the first successful gasoline-fueled automobiles.The first race ever organized was on April 28,1887 by the chief editor of Paris publication Le Velocipede,Monsieur Fossier.It ran 2 kilometers from Neuilly Bridge to the Bois de Boulogne.Georges Bouton of the Fe Dion-Bouton company won it,in a car he had constructed with Albert,the count de Dion,but as he was the only competitor to show up it is rather difficult to call it race..!!
